Cost-Effective Lateral Rehabilitation:

The Benefits of Injection Grouting for Infiltration Elimination

Leaking laterals, which are the pipelines connecting private properties to the main municipal sewer system, can contribute significantly to infiltration problems in wastewater systems. Estimates typically suggest that leaking laterals contribute around 30% to 50% of the total infiltration volume entering a municipal sewer system.

Join us for an insightful webinar on rehabilitating laterals and lateral connections by utilizing injection grouts. This is an advanced method for rehabilitations and strengthening and municipal infrastructure. Injection grouting is widely used to seal defects and stabilize soil, control water flow - also known as infiltration - and prevent further damage to our aging sewer systems. This presentation will delve into the benefits of lateral injection grouting, including cost savings, minimal disruption, and long-lasting results. You will also learn about the various types of injection grouts, their applications, and best practices for successful injection. Whether you are a municipal engineer or facility manager, this presentation will equip you with the knowledge to make informed decisions about controlling infiltration in laterals.

Chris Hamilton

Chris Hamilton has been with Avanti International for over 10 years. Chris is the Southeastern US/Caribbean Region and International Manager, and most recently Director - Municipal Division. Chris served as a Project Engineer in the industry for over a decade before coming to Avanti in 2014. In that time, he was involved with concrete applications, both precast and ready-mix, with a primary focus on infrastructure rehabilitation. Chris has designed, written and managed projects for the Tennessee Valley Authority, NASA, Power Plants in South America, and hundreds of municipal clients over the years which has granted him a deep understanding of infrastructure, and how we can better maintain it. Additionally, Chris has lectured and educated numerous organizations and industry conferences on injection grouting technology - in the U.S. and abroad. Chris is also fluent in Spanish.

Marc Anctil

Marc started his career with Logiball in 1994 and served as President from 2004-2022 & most recently as Head of Technical Sales through July 2024. Marc has been involved with the development of ASTM standard practices for the application of chemical grouts for infiltration control in sewers and the development of NASSCO Specification Guidelines for municipal sewer grouting, has given numerous presentations on the subject. He has participated actively in NASSCO as Committee Chair, Board member and Past President (2008). Marc has been actively involved in training at the Municipal Sewer Grout Schools since 2005, training over 1000 technicians.

Using Robotic Technology to Assist in Lateral Connection Rehabilitation

In this presentation, we will explore the critical role of robotic technology in lateral connection rehabilitation. From initial cleaning to final reinstatement, we will discuss how various tooling enhances efficiency and precision in the process. Key topics will include cleaning from the main,  protruding tap cutting, installing connection liners, and reinstating lateral connections. Attendees will gain insight into the latest advancements in robotic systems, their applications in the field, and how they contribute to improved project outcomes.

Presented by: Pete Dannenberg

Pete serves as Vortex’s Senior Vice President of Technologies, where he oversees the company’s continued expansion of high-tech equipment solutions. This includes the company’s core line of Schwalm robotics and the more recent addition of CIPP curing  monitoring systems and UV-CIPP curing technology. Pete’s in-depth knowledge of the practical application and sales of specialty technologies in the trenchless infrastructure rehabilitation space has been a tremendous asset to the company’s growth in the water and sewer technologies market.

Prior to joining Vortex in 2020, Pete worked for several industry-leading sewer technology companies where he held positions of Regional Sales Manager and Lead Field Engineer. With this ground-level experience, he worked closely with contractors. Pete understands the need for robots that can consistently perform in aggressive and destructive sewer environments, giving him unique insight into a contractor’s expectations from a robotic system.
